Being able to draw on my passions and experience with motorcycles made it easy to share that activity with others since I was drawing on my personal knowledge of the subject.
As I progressed in building the site, I decided that I am going to keep on adding content by blogging on my trips and rides I do this summer and in the future. I also enjoy writing trip reports and plan to add many more riding loops in Vermont and New York. I am starting to think that it could be in the realm of reality to promote my site and add paid sponsors or advertisers to be able to make a little money off of it.
Will I be able to stay on top of adding content, promoting the site and making it something other than a personal project? I am not sure if I will be able to fully devote the time, but I am going to give it a shot and head down that path. At a minimum, the site can give me a way to reflect and relive my experiences motorcycling.
What things will I add in the future? I will continue to blog on each ride I do. While some of the loops are ridden over and over, there are always new and interesting things to see that make each story unique. Growing the riding loops section will be key if I plan on promoting the site. I know I research the roads and routes I plan on doing whenever riding in new states or areas I have never ridden before. I believe that my pre-ridden loops provide value as they help riders envision what to expect BEFORE committing to a specific route.
I am also thinking that I might merge or connect my existing Blogspot blog into Weebly so there is one place for me to make updates.
Lastly, I am going to work on the usability of the site because after adding more content I am starting to see how navigating to the pertinent information might become cumbersome. The Routes and Rides is the area I will focus on to better categorize the entries so users can get to the information easily with less scrolling.
I have enjoyed this class immensely and have learned all of the tools to craft content that matters to users of the site and hopefully will keep them engaged and coming back. The class has also stirred my motorcycle passion creatively.
